Hair products, hot tools, and dry weather can wreak havoc on your hair. Dry, brittle, and damaged hair can make for a bad hair day every day. Sometimes your hair needs a little boost to look and feel healthy again. There are plenty of chemical products and expensive treatments promising strong, healthy hair, but they rarely work, and they’re rarely good for your mane. These are 4 natural ways to rejuvenate your hair.
Natural Hair Mask
A natural hair mask is a great way to bring back the shine and strength in your hair. Mix two egg yolks and 20 milliliters of both olive oil and honey together in a bowl. Mix it well making sure the yolk is completely beaten and the mixture forms a paste-like consistency. Apply the mixture to wet hair and cover your hair with a plastic shower cap. Allow it to sit for 20-30 minutes and rinse with warm water. Repeat the treatment 3 times a week for the best results.
Egg yolk adds shine, moisture, strength, and volume to your hair because of the protein and fatty acids it contains. It also contains vitamins A, D, and E. Honey contains antibacterial and vitamins with powerful healing capabilities which help heal the damaged hair. Oil moisturizes your hair to keep it from drying and breaking and also adds shine.
Steam showering your hair is one of the best ways to rejuvenate your hair. It can add moisture to your hair, lift your hair cuticles and help with hair growth. Lifted hair cuticles help moisture to better penetrate your hair and help your hair to better retain that moisture. If you have curly hair, steam will rejuvenate your curls and make them look fresh and healthy. Steaming your hair also helps promote hair growth. The steam improves circulation in the scalp which helps the hair follicles open up to new hair. You can steam your hair with a handheld shower or with a steam shower.
If you have a steam shower available make regular use of it to reap the benefits for your hair. Have a shower cap handy to keep your hair from taking in too much moisture. After your regular shower routine, allow an extra 10-15 minutes for steam to penetrate your hair and scalp.
If you can get past feeling like a human sandwich, a mayonnaise hair treatment can do wonders to improve the integrity of your hair. Apply 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise to wet hair. Massage the mayo into your hair from root to tip and let it sit for 20 minutes. Rinse the mayo out with warm water.
To take this remedy to the next level you can apply 20 milliliters of coconut oil to your hair immediately after rinsing out the mayo. Let the coconut oil sit for 10-15 minutes and then rinse it out with warm water. Mayonnaise helps to improve the shine, flexibility, and strength of your hair. Coconut oil provides your hair with important proteins that are lost to harsh weather and sun exposure.
Apple Cider Vinegar and Butter Scalp Scrub
This is a fantastic remedy to promote hair growth. Butter nourishes your hair follicles to encourage new hair to grow. Apple cider vinegar increases circulation in the scalp as well as eliminates dandruff and bacteria that often stunt hair growth.
Massage about a half cup of butter into your wet scalp and then rinse it out with warm water. Next, mix 1 ounce of apple cider vinegar with about 8.5 ounces of water and massage into your scalp. Let this sit for about 10 minutes and then rinse it out and condition your hair as normal.
There you have it. These are 4 all natural ways to rejuvenate your hair. We can put our hair through the ringer with all the curling, straightening, teasing, and harsh weather it endures on a daily basis. Use these methods to bring strength and shine back to your hair.
