Natural hair treatments build strength in natural hair. A hot oil treatment can take dry hair and make it soft and strong, while sealing in moisture. When you deep condition natural black hair and create hair masks, you also help your hair to grow because it becomes less prone to breakage.
Hot oil treatments can include using the following types of oils with a shower cap: olive oil, jojoba oil, sunflower oil, soybean oil and rosemary oil. By following these natural hair treatments, you will find that healthy, black hair care does not have to cost much money.
Natural Hair Treatments With Oil
Hot oil treatments stimulate the scalp, restore natural hair’s oils and make strands more pliable. When you administer a hot oil treatment, you have to heat the oil, massage it into the scalp, leave it on the scalp under a shower cap and rinse it out with water.
You can purchase a hot oil treatment, or you can buy the natural oil needed for a hot oil treatment. Which oil should you use?
Olive oil – Olive oil is cheap and widely available. It smoothes, softens and conditions natural hair. It doesn’t matter if you buy extra virgin, virgin or pure olive oil. They all work well.
Jojoba oil – Jojoba oil is unique because it is very similar to sebum, the oil that the scalp produces naturally. If your scalp produces too much sebum, jojoba oil can be used to dissolve it, thus cleansing the scalp. Jojoba oil, which comes from the jojoba tree’s seeds, can be easily absorbed in the scalp and moisturizes natural hair.
Sunflower oil – Sunflower oil, which has virtually no odor, helps black natural hair to retain moisture, adds luster and shine. It contains vitamins A, B-1, B-5, B-6, C and E and prevents a flaky scalp.
Soybean oil – Organic soybean oil is a type of vegetable protein which coats damaged hair and split ends. Soybean oil creates a protective layer on the hair shaft (the outer part of hair) and seals in moisture.
Rosemary oil – This is one of the most popular essential oils because it stimulates hair growth. Rosemary oil makes hair grow longer and stronger. It also reduces a flaky, dry scalp.
Deep Condition With Hair Masks
Natural hair treatments come in many forms. You can deep condition your natural black hair with natural hair masks. Deep conditioning restores and reseals moisture in the hair shaft. Sitting under a hooded dryer for one hour helps a deep conditioner to penetrate the hair shaft. After doing natural hair treatments, rinse thoroughly with water.
You can deep condition with a deep conditioner, or make your own. Here are some key ingredients for your natural hair treatments:
Mayo – Mayonnaise ingredients include eggs, oil and vinegar, all items that work as protein to your natural hair. According to livestrong.com, mayo locks the hair’s cuticle and leaves behind a protective coating.
Avocado – Avocado, which is rich in polyunsaturated fat and protein, rejuvenates the hair. It makes the hair soft, increases elasticity and reduces breakage. Avocado works well as a hair mask.
Aloe vera – Called a miracle plant, aloe vera can work wonders for your hair. Natural hair ingredients, including enzymes, amino acids, proteins and other vitamins, act as a highly moisturizing agent. Aloe vera’s saponin can deep condition your natural black hair. Aloe vera can heal damaged or dry hair by acting as an oxygenator.
