My braid-out curls had fallen.  I was going out, and I didn’t want to just slap a headband around the edges.  I grabbed some bobby pins and ended up with a half-up hairdo.

How I achieved this Sisterlocks hair style:

  1. I made two big, loose flat twists on the crown of my head, securing them with bobby pins.
  2. I took my hair on the sides (which just so happens to be longer than the hair at my crown) and secured it with a ponytail holder.
  3. I pinned this hair into a bun.
  4. Leave the back hair alone.

Be careful with bobby pins.  Make sure they do not pierce through your locs.  This could upset the locking process, or put unsightly holes in your locs.  I have found that bobby pins have allowed me to create several different styles on my short Sisterlocks.  I try to open them completely before securing them to my head.
