I have a confession.  I don’t always listen to my consultant. *GASP!

I actually hate to admit that because I really respect what my Sisterlocks consultant has to say.  I realize and appreciate that her knowledge on Sisterlocks far exceeds my own.  She’s seen a variety of hair types and knows the best route to take with hair.

But once, I veered from her advice.

Working out with Sisterlocks

I try to stay in shape with a combination of running, walking, Pilates and weight lifting.  I get very sweaty.  New Sisterlocks don’t do well with excessive wetness.  So, my consultant suggested I loosely cornrow or flat twist my hair.  I faithfully did so for about three months into my journey.

I work out five days per week, and that cornrow/twisting routine got old.  I decided that I was going to be lazy and not do it.  I instead put a headband around my hair to keep it off my sweaty neck.  My hair didn’t seem to suffer.

The next retightening came along, and I asked my consultant if I still needed to cornrow or twist when I exercised.  “Oh, no,” she said.  She told me that it would suffice to wear a headband or pull my hair back loosely with a hair tie… exactly what I was doing!

I don’t recommend it

I don’t recommend veering off your consultant’s course.  That said, you know YOUR hair.  If you make a mistake with it, you will have to pay for it.  If you do something and it works, well, it works.  Whatever your choice, it’s your hair.
